Celebrating International Happiness at Work Week: A Joyful Journey Together

By Alexandra Morris, Operations Manager

At Touchdown PR, we believe that happiness in the workplace is more than just a buzzword—it’s a key ingredient for productivity, creativity, and a thriving company culture. That’s why we were thrilled to host our very own International Happiness at Work Week, a dedicated time to celebrate joy, mindfulness, and togetherness within our team.

From creative expression to moments of calm, we curated a week full of activities that allowed everyone to reconnect, unwind, and truly enjoy the workplace. Here’s a look at how we embraced happiness and built stronger bonds as a team through some incredibly fun and inspiring activities.

Paint and Sip: Creativity Unleashed

We kicked off the week with a relaxed and fun Paint and Sip session. Armed with tumblers, paintbrushes, and a glass of their favourite drink, our team members had the chance to let their creativity flow freely. Whether they were seasoned painters or complete beginners, everyone dove into the experience with enthusiasm. It wasn’t just about painting—laughter, encouragement, and shared moments turned this activity into a wonderful way to bond outside of the usual work setting.

Insights Party: Uncovering Strengths Together

Next, we hosted an Insights Party that gave everyone the opportunity to reflect on their personal and professional strengths. With inspiration for the party coming from the Insights Training we took part in a few weeks prior, the party allowed us to dive into discussions about what drives us, how we communicate, and how we can support each other better as a team. This deeper understanding of each other’s unique perspectives was not only eye-opening but also empowering. The party was filled with ‘aha’ moments and a sense of mutual appreciation for each person’s strengths, plus the sweetie station was a hit!

Cookie Decorating: Sweet Creativity and Team Spirit

What better way to bring people together than through cookies? Our Cookie Decorating activity gave everyone a chance to show off their creative side while indulging their sweet tooth. From intricate designs to fun shapes and vibrant colours, the room was filled with artistic flair as we crafted edible masterpieces. It was a lighthearted event that brought out everyone’s playful spirit and added a dash of sweetness to the day.

Mindful Walk: A Pause for Presence

In the middle of the week, we slowed things down with a Mindful Walk. Taking a break from screens and deadlines, we ventured outdoors to reconnect with nature and practice mindfulness. Walking quietly through the local park, we soaked in the sights, sounds, and fresh air, allowing ourselves to simply be in the moment. It was a peaceful and restorative experience, reminding us of the importance of balance and self-care amid the hustle and bustle of work life… the Starbucks pit stop mid-way helped a lot too!

Portrait Painting: Capturing Our Inner Artists

Rounding out the week was an interesting Portrait Painting session, where participants could try their hand at capturing their colleagues through ‘pen’. This activity pushed us to embrace our artistic side while also promoting focus and mindfulness. By the end of the session, our screens were lined with unique and expressive portraits that showcased both talent and teamwork..and some rather humbling portraits.

The Joy of Happiness at Work

Each activity during International Happiness at Work Week was designed to promote not just individual well-being but also collective happiness. By engaging in creative, mindful, and collaborative experiences, we found new ways to connect, support each other, and foster a more joyful work environment.

This week wasn’t just a break from the routine—it was a celebration of the things that make our workplace special: our people, our creativity, and the sense of community we share. As we continue to grow and thrive together, we’re reminded that happiness at work is not just about the big achievements, but the moments of joy, connection, and laughter that we create along the way.
